TEACHING Philosophy
My goal as an educator is to instill a love for music and to help students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to confidently interpret and perform piano music. Even if a student does not intend on becoming a professional musician, it is my hope that they will derive joy from playing music and that the skills obtained from learning an instrument will carry over into other aspects of their lives. Playing music requires us to be creative and use our imaginations. It teaches us to listen, to communicate clearly, to problem solve, and to set goals and follow through on achieving those goals. All of this together brings us a sense of fulfillment.
Testimonials
Working with Brittany for 5 years has been an absolute pleasure, and she has taught me so much. She challenges me enough that I know my skills are improving by the next lesson, and lessons with her are really enjoyable. She is always a friendly face and is your number one fan when it comes to playing the piano. Any student would be lucky to have her as their teacher!
— Sadie, student
Brittany's teaching has a creative twist as she incorporates fun games to introduce clefs, beats, high and low notes alongside traditional piano playing and theory, making it more engaging for young learners. This boosts my son's confidence, setting the stage for his awesome first recital!
— Ninda, parent
As someone who approached the piano late in life, with no musical background, I was nervous about learning something new. Brittany has been excellent at tailoring the lessons to my needs. I was surprised at how much I’ve learned in a short amount of time!

piano lessons
Every student is encouraged to perform in bi-annual studio recitals as well as in studio classes and other performance opportunities. In lessons, I work with each student individually, helping them set achievable goals and realize their potential. I incorporate music theory and music history to help students understand the music they are playing beyond just the notes. Because music is a performing art, I work with students on how to prepare themselves well for performances so they are confident and ready to play in front of an audience.
