About

Brittany Florenz is a photographer, pianist, and educator based in New York City. Her work is driven by a passion for creativity and teaching, and she enjoys weaving her diverse interests and skills into everything she does.

As a photographer, her portraits have appeared in music magazines, books, CD covers, and promotional materials. She has had the honor of working with organizations like the Rhode Island College Dance Company, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and New York University (NYU), photographing performances and special events. A primarily self-taught photographer, she continues to hone her craft through independent study and has also developed important skills through various workshops at the International Center of Photography.

As a pianist, Ms. Florenz has performed solo and chamber repertoire in the U.S. and abroad. She has over 12 years of experience teaching students of all ages and levels, and she manages her own private piano studio. She is a co-founder of the Intermezzo Musicianship Festival — a music theory and history intensive — where she taught music theory and history classes and collaborated with her colleagues to develop the Festival’s curriculum and materials. Her teaching career has also included roles as an adjunct piano instructor at NYU and as a piano teacher at many community music schools across New York City. Additionally, she recently joined the Board of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York.

Beyond photography and piano teaching, she enjoys pursuing new challenges in other areas as well. She has worked as an administrator in music and also teaches ESL classes online. Her interest in languages and linguistics led her to complete a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the NYU School of Professional Studies in 2023. She speaks Italian and is currently learning Portuguese.

Ms. Florenz holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she received the CIM Presidential Merit Award, and a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from NYU, where she received the Steinhardt Music Talent Scholarship.

Whether she is behind the camera, at the piano, or in the classroom, Ms. Florenz is committed to fostering creativity and connection in all areas of her life.
